Lincoln Foundation Business/Entrepreneural Development Summit 2024. (SDG 1- NO POVERTY)

Lincoln Foundation is dedicated to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and actively contributes to achieving them. In alignment with SDG 1 (No Poverty), the institution organized a Business/Entrepreneurship Development Summit on 24th January 2024 at its premises in Abuja. The summit aimed to educate students, small business owners, and entrepreneurs on business startup, best practices, and essential aspects of running businesses in Nigeria.


Objectives

The summit aimed to achieve the following objectives:

● Educate students, small business owners, and entrepreneurs on the fundamentals of starting and managing businesses in Nigeria.

● Provide insights into best practices and strategies for successful business development and entrepreneurship.

● Foster connections and collaborations among participants to promote innovation and socioeconomic growth within the community.




Event Highlights: The summit featured a lineup of esteemed business experts who shared invaluable insights with attendees. A representative from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Mr. Donald Uchechukwu Mezu elucidated the importance of business registration, guiding participants through the process and highlighting the benefits of formalizing their enterprises.




Additionally, a speaker from Zenith Bank, Miss Uju provided attendees with crucial information on the advantages of banking with Zenith Bank, particularly during the inception and operation stages of businesses. The session covered account opening procedures and the various services available to entrepreneurs.




Miss Lillian Bello, an experienced business professional and Head of the Mass Communication Department of the institution, delivered a comprehensive presentation on digital marketing. She outlined the significance of digital marketing strategies, offered practical advice on implementation, and underscored the long-term benefits for businesses.




The sessions were very insightful, educative and interactive. Following the presentations, students had the opportunity to showcase their businesses, with seven individuals stepping forward to promote their brands. A business panel was convened to evaluate these presentations, posing insightful questions to the participants.


Supporting Student Ventures: As part of its commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial talent, the college initiated a support program for promising student businesses. Three students were identified based on predetermined criteria set by the business panel. These individuals received complimentary business registration services from the college, facilitated through the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Conclusion: The Business/Entrepreneurship Development Summit 2024 organized by Lincoln College of Science, Management, and Technology proved to be a resounding success, fulfilling its objectives of educating and empowering aspiring entrepreneurs. The collaborative efforts of the speakers, organizers, and participants fostered a dynamic learning environment, facilitating knowledge exchange and networking opportunities. The event not only provided practical guidance on business establishment and management but also inspired students to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions with confidence. By supporting promising ventures through initiatives like complimentary business registration, the college demonstrates its commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial talent and contributing to socioeconomic development.

Future Endeavors: Looking ahead, Lincoln College of Science, Management, and Technology remains committed to advancing initiatives that promote entrepreneurship and sustainable development. Building on the success of the Business/Entrepreneurial Development Summit 2024, the college will continue to explore avenues for supporting student ventures, fostering innovation, and driving positive change within the community.
